Horses

At Haven Veterinary Group we offer you and your horse a traditional first opinion service. Our vets have many years of experience both as professionals and as horse owners. We can therefore help with hands on advice on looking after your horse or pony as well as treating that troublesome cough or stitching up wounds.

We strongly promote preventative medicine and would therefore advise that all horses are vaccinated against ‘flu and tetanus.  We are able to vaccinate horses at the Hedon surgery by appointment only.  We can give advice on up to date worming regimes including worm egg counts which may eliminate the need for some worming.

We operate a payment at the time basis for all new clients. Our vets offer you and your horse 24 hour cover 7 days a week, although in order to give a reasonable response time this is restricted to the Hull and Holderness area.

We are also able to offer surgical procedures such as gelding (castration), lump removal, suturing of wounds. We are also licensed by DEFRA for horse export certification. Micro chipping is also available at reasonable rates.

24/7 emergency care from haven vet group
A full emergency service is provided. At weekends and bank holidays, small animal emergencies are seen until 4pm at Holderness Road. Night work is undertaken on our behalf by Vets Now at the PDSA Petaid Hospital at Brunswick Avenue, Hull who will give free out of hours advice over the phone . This has allowed us to focus and be much more proactive during the days when we see 99% of our clients. This means you will not see a dishevelled vet that has been up all night working! We have found this venture to be of great importance as it has allowed us to concentrate and be at our best when we are needed most, whilst providing the essential cover for our patients at all times.

The large animal section undertakes its own emergency out of hours work at all times.
