Hull Veterinary team work together to support local charities

Hedon Rangers Pythons U9s with Evie Beattie and Jon StoreyVets and staff at a Holderness Veterinary practice are raiding their cupboards to find saleable items for the St Andrew Church & Paull Village Hall Car Boot Sale on 3rd May.

The close knit team at Haven Veterinary Group are supporting the car boot sale to raise funds for local Under 9s football team, Hedon Rangers Pythons and Alzheimer’s Society.

Evie Beattie, Senior Practice Administrator, has organised the fund raiser and is very pleased with the amount of items that her colleagues have found to sell.

“Haven Veterinary Group has been serving the communities of East Hull and Hedon for over 100 years and we are proud to support both local and national charities.

“In addition to our sponsorship of Hedon Rangers Pythons, we fundraise for Carr House Rescue Centre, support the annual Macmillan Coffee Morning and last year Principal Vet and Practice Owner, Jim Morris, raised over £1,000 for the British Heart Foundation by cycling from London to Paris.”

The stall will be manned by Evie, Kate Danby and Jim’s wife, Rachel Morris and Hedon Rangers Pythons manager, Jon Storey and some of the players will be on hand to help out too.

The car boot is held on the first Saturday of every month from April to October between 8am and 1pm on Paull sportsfield. Proceeds from the entry fee to the popular car boot sale are split between the St Andrew Church & Paull Village Hall for the benefit of the whole community.

Hull Veterinary Group launches affordable equine healthcare plan

Holderness Point to Point

As the Holderness Point to Point prepares to welcome riders to the picturesque Dalton Park near Beverley on 15th March, a Hull and Holderness Veterinary Group has launched an Equine Pet Plan to help spread the cost of looking after your horse.

Haven Veterinary Group has run a popular Pet Health Plan for several years and has added an Equine Health Plan in response to customer demand for a way of providing affordable, preventative equine care.

Of the new plan, practice owner and principal veterinary surgeon, Jim Morris said:  “It is estimated that there are just under a million horses in the UK and the upkeep of these is over £3,000 per horse.  The Equine Health Plan includes an annual flu and tetanus vaccination, regular monitoring for round worms, an annual tapeworm treatment and discounts on long term medication and on some other procedures carried out by Haven.

“It is not horse insurance but helps pay for regular preventative treatment that insurance doesn’t cover”.

The price is £10.31per month for a pony/riding horse and £12.11 per month for a large horse.  More details are available from the Hedon practice by calling 01482 898301 or Holderness Road on 01482 376477.
