haven vet group in hull christmas campaign for carr house rescue centreThe team at one of Hull’s leading Veterinary Practices has launched a Christmas charity campaign in aid of one of Hull’s longest established dog rescue centres.

Staff at Haven Veterinary Group in Holderness Road kicked off the campaign for Carr House Rescue Centre with a “guess how many dog treats are in the jar” sweepstake that raised over £400 and was won by Ilona Park of East Hull, who guessed that there were 205 treats in the jar.

Evie Beattie, Senior Practice Administrator, is managing the campaign and is delighted that it got off to such a good start; “We’re proud to support Norma Anderson and her team at Carr House.  They work tirelessly to provide a safe haven, medical care, attention and love for rescue dogs of all ages.

“We have lots of events planned, including a Christmas raffle, home-made pet treat goody bags and Guess the Teddy’s Birthday and Festive Pet photo competitions.  Entries for the photo competition are being invited now in two age brackets – under 12months and over 12 months. Photos and the £1 entry fee can be dropped in at 34 Ketwell Lane, Hedon or 684 Holderness Road, Hull and the winners will receive Haven Gift vouchers and a Festive Hamper.

Evie concluded; “The closing date for the competitions is December 20th so that we can notify the winners and deliver the donations before Christmas. We hope to raise at least £500 for this great charity.”

Staff will also be asking pet owners for donations of food, treats, toys and blankets in the run up to Christmas and practice owner and principal veterinary surgeon Jim Morris has agreed to dress up as Santa to deliver them.
