Hull Veterinary group’s fundraising bonanza

The Haven Veterinary Group Race for Life team 2014Local and national charities are £692 better off thanks to the fundraising efforts of a team of Hull Veterinary Group employees.

Last month, staff at Haven Veterinary Group in Hedon and Hull attended the car boot sale in Paull and raised  £260 that was divided equally between Alzheimer’s Society and Hedon Rangers Pythons Under 9s football club and earlier this month, seven ladies completed the Hull Race for Life in gruelling heat and raised over £432 for national cancer charities.

The Race for Life team comprised organiser, Senior Practice Administrator, Evie Beattie, Head Nurse, Mandy Dobbs; vets, Kim Barrow and Pippa Kaplowitch,  veterinary nurses Katy Pyle and Evie’s daughter, Reegan, a Maths intervention teacher at Archbishop Sentamu School.

Evie Beattie said: “We had a wide range of ages from 21 to 52 and varying degrees of athletic prowess, but we all shared the same enjoyment and sense of achievement at the finish.”

As a token of appreciation for the support that Haven Veterinary Group has given to Hedon Rangers Pythons in kit sponsorship and donations this season, Evie Beattie was invited to present the prizes at the end of season presentations.

Haven Veterinary Group has been treating and caring for small and large animals for over a century and its Holderness Road practice is one of only a few nurse training centres in East Yorkshire.
