Meet the Haven Veterinary Group Team

Haven Veterinary Group employs 32 people including 9 vets whose combined experience in small animals, large animals and exotics exceeds 135 years.

Jim Morris is the practice owner and principal veterinary surgeon.  He joined the practice in 1991 and became a partner in 2000.  He has been working with pigs for twenty years and has a wealth of experience in this field. In addition, Jim also brings his experience to the small animal team at both of our practices and has an interest in exotic species.

Mark from Haven Vet Group Hedon  Mark White joined the practice in 1983. He was a partner in the practice from 1988 to 2013.  He now acts for the practice as its specialist pig consultant.  Mark has been a RCVS Specialist in Pig Medicine since 1993.  One of only three specialists in the UK, he is recognised worldwide for his work with pigs.  He holds a degree in law and uses this to undertake a large amount of legal expert witness work in the pig field. Mark is also a member of the Governments Farm Animal Welfare Committee (FAWC).
Idonea from Haven Vet Group Hedon Idonea Pickering (Do) has been with the practice for over thirty years.  In that time she has worked in every department and is now a valuable member of both the large and small animal team.  Her wealth of experience in keeping, as well as treating animals, allows her to understand the pitfalls often encountered in stock and horse keeping and give down to earth advice on how to avoid them.
Antony Bada joined Haven Veterinary Group in 2011.  He qualified in Poland in 2007 and is fluent in both English and Polish.  After graduating he spent four years in a busy practice in Norwich.  He enjoys all aspects of veterinary work with a particular interest in soft tissue surgery, endocrinology and cardiology.  Antony is the leader of the small animal team at our Holderness Road branch.
liz cromarty from haven vets Elisabeth Pocock (Liz) has worked for the practice since she graduated from Liverpool University back in 2007.  Liz recently decided to specialise in the small animal side of the practice after six years of working with both large and small animals.  This all round experience of general practice coupled with a professional attitude and a keen eye for detail allows Liz to bring a fresh angle to our team.
Mike Geary has over 30 years experience in small animal medicine and joined the Haven Veterinary Group in 2012.  He is a talented small animal surgeon with extensive knowledge and ability with both soft tissues and orthopaedics.  Away from the surgery Mike has a keen interest in motorbikes.
Kim Barrow is a local girl from Hedon who qualified and graduated from Liverpool University (2012).  She is interested in surgery and is hoping to develop her skills in this field.  Kim also enjoys treating exotic animals and took a trip to India to see many first hand.

Amanda Dobbs (Mandy) qualified as a small animal veterinary nurse in 2009 and joined the practice in 2011 as Head Nurse.  Mandy is a dedicated small animal nurse who enjoys all aspects of nursing, including exotic species.  She also has a passion for horses and loves to help out on the equine side if needed.

24/7 emergency care from haven vet group
A full emergency service is provided. At weekends and bank holidays, small animal emergencies are seen until 4pm at Holderness Road. Night work is undertaken on our behalf by Vets Now at the PDSA Petaid Hospital at Brunswick Avenue, Hull who will give free out of hours advice over the phone . This has allowed us to focus and be much more proactive during the days when we see 99% of our clients. This means you will not see a dishevelled vet that has been up all night working! We have found this venture to be of great importance as it has allowed us to concentrate and be at our best when we are needed most, whilst providing the essential cover for our patients at all times.

The large animal section undertakes its own emergency out of hours work at all times.
