Meet the Haven Veterinary Group Team

Haven Veterinary Group employs 32 people including 8 vets whose combined experience in small animals, large animals and exotics exceeds 138 years.

Mark from Haven Vet Group Hedon

Mark White joined the practice in 1983. He became a partner in 1988 when the name of The Haven Veterinary Group was adopted and has been an RCVS Specialist in Pig Medicine since 1993.  One of only three specialists in the UK, he is recognised worldwide for his work with pigs.  He also holds a degree in law and uses this to undertake a large amount of legal expert witness work in the pig field.

Jim Morris joined the practice in 1991 and became a partner in 2000.  He has been working with pigs for approximately seventeen years and has a wealth of experience in this field. In addition, Jim also undertakes small animal work at both of our practices and has an interest in exotic species.

Idonea from Haven Vet Group Hedon

Idonea Pickering (Do) has been with the practice for over thirty years.  In that time she has worked in every department and is now a valuable member of the large animal team.  Her wealth of experience in keeping, as well as treating animals, allows her to understand the pitfalls often encountered in stock and horse keeping and give down to earth advice on how to avoid them.

Elisabeth Pocock (Liz) has worked for the practice since she graduated from Liverpool University back in 2007.  Liz does mixed practice work with a 50/50 split between small animal and farm/equine.  This all round experience of general practice coupled with a professional attitude and a keen eye for detail has allowed Liz to bring a fresh angle to our team.

Amy Williams joined the practice in 2011 as a dedicated small animal vet. Amy qualified with her degree from the University of Glasgow, having also studied at Cambridge University for one summer. Being a new graduate, Amy is yet to find her special interest and is currently enjoying all aspects of her work, both in medicine and surgery.

Dr. George Magay qualified in Hungary over 20 years ago and has worked for the practice for several years.  Within this time he took a year out to study at a specialist orthopaedics referral practice. George is particularly interested in all aspects of orthopaedics and enjoys challenging pelvic fractures.  He is currently studying for a certificate in small animal surgery.

Dr Tine Amholt Waldorff qualified in Denmark in July 2009.  During her studies she completed an externship at the Queens Veterinary School Hospital, equine section, at the University of Cambridge.  She is now a dedicated small animal vet and has found a special interest in surgery.

Antony Bada joined Haven Veterinary Group in 2011.  He qualified in Poland in 2007. After graduating he spent four years in a busy practice in Norwich.  He enjoys all aspects of veterinary work with a particular interest in soft tissue surgery, endocrinology and cardiology.

Amanda Dobbs (Mandy) qualified as a small animal veterinary nurse in 2009 and joined the practice in 2011 as Head Nurse.  Mandy is a dedicated small animal nurse who enjoys all aspects of nursing, including exotic species.  She also has a passion for horses and loves to help out on the equine side if needed.

24/7 emergency care from haven vet group
A full emergency service is provided. At weekends and bank holidays, small animal emergencies are seen until 4pm at Holderness Road. Night work is undertaken on our behalf by Vets Now at the PDSA Petaid Hospital at Brunswick Avenue, Hull who will give free out of hours advice over the phone . This has allowed us to focus and be much more proactive during the days when we see 99% of our clients. This means you will not see a dishevelled vet that has been up all night working! We have found this venture to be of great importance as it has allowed us to concentrate and be at our best when we are needed most, whilst providing the essential cover for our patients at all times.

The large animal section undertakes its own emergency out of hours work at all times.
